My scaled down passion – the beginning

Written by:

10 Years ago I got my first die-cast 1:18 scale model motorcycle from my aunt for Christmas, a 2003 Ducati 999s. Little did she know that this would start an obsession that will last a lifetime. All of my models have some significance or meaning to me. Every week I’ll blog about a motorcycle from my collection, in chronological order, telling you more about it, why it’s important and where I got it from.

2003 Ducati 999s

Make & Model: 2003 Ducati 999s
From : My aunt
Date : December 2004
Purchased : Crazy Store, Springbok, South Africa.

This specific motorcycle was designed by Pierre Terblance, a South African motorcycle designer from Uitenhage in the Eastern Cape. It was produced from 2003 through to 2006. The engine is 999cc, liquid cooled, four stroke, 90° V-twin DOHC, with 4 desmodromic valves per cylinder. The 999s is claimed to do 0-100 km/h in under three seconds and go on to reach a top speed of over 270km/h.

It’s a gorgeous motorcycle. If I could have one I would put it in the middle of my lounge on a revolving table.
